Extra information:

Max's book, Cycling Science, was published in the US on 2 November 2012 by Chicago University Press and in the UK on 1 May 2013 by Frances Lincoln. The editions have different spellings so you'll want to buy at least one copy of each.

You'll also want to buy the German, French, Japanese, South Korean, Finnish, Spanish, Italian and Russian editions. If you prefer pixels, download the Kindle version of the US edition.

Max has twice been nominated for the BT Technology Journalist
of the Year award, in 1996 amd 1997. Both nominations were for series of articles published in the Sunday Times - about robots and about advanced transport.

In 2000 he was named Journalist of the Year by the Association for Geographic Information, following articles about the Galileio satellite navigation system, published in both the Sunday Times and in Engineering.

He's been writing about cycling since 1984, when he edited Bicycle magazine and went on to co-found the Mountain Bike Club, organising the first major off-road cycling events in the UK for the five years.

He's also spent many years writing about cars, automotive technologies and traffic technologies.

Max covers all technologies, from giant airships to nanotechnology and has done so for more than 20 years.
