Colm Devlin is an award winning freelance editor and writer with more than 20 years’ corporate communications experience in publishing and PR. He has worked in this capacity on behalf of many well-known organisations including P&G, ARCO, Anchor Trust, Saint-Gobain, Unilever, Barclays, Roche UK, Canon Europe, British Gas and Pitney Bowes International.

Recent assignments include creating and launching a website and email newsletter, EmotionalBuzz, for the community of meridian energy therapists, contributing to Procter & Gamble’s Fresh magazine, ARCO’s People magazine, Anchor Trust’s Anchor News magazine. He has contributed to Unilever's CIB award-winning Unilever Magazine and provided editorial support on Sugaronline as well as for Log On, Weber Shandwick’s European staff intranet magazine. He has also produced a series of information leaflets, brochures and internet content for Roche UK.
For design firm TileyWoodman he provided editorial support and consultancy on several projects, including a book to celebrate Canon’s 50th anniversary of trading in Europe, Pitney Bowes’ 2007 annual report for staff and several British Gas staff magazines.
Colm supported Barclays International Retail and Commercial Banking corporate affairs team on a project to re-launch its intranet site, and produced a report on HIV/Aids in Africa for Barclays as part of its activities on World Aids Day.
Before going freelance, Colm gained broad editorial experience with publishing teams within several major PR consultancies, including Weber Shandwick, Golin Harris and Paragon Communications, winning several directors’ merit awards for his work. In 2006, Frank, the multilingual magazine Colm produced for Pitney Bowes International staff, won a CIB award of excellence.
Other clients for whom he produced communications include Pitney Bowes, Visa Europe, BAA, Sussex Enterprise, Siemens Communications, London Underground, NCR, AT&T, Kalamazoo, Rhone-Poulenc, Canon, Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, Bass Brewers, Southern Electric Contracting and Panasonic, among others.
Colm began his publishing career as an account handler with a science/ technology/ medical specialist PR agency, where he learned his craft and also undertook several IPR and PRCA run PR writing courses. He worked on numerous clients including Wellcome Diagnostics, Bio-Rad, Biocatalysts and Ames Miles. Later, at Paragon, he managed media, exhibitor and visitor relations campaigns for Home Interiors and Textile & Technology exhibitions, and also ran the exhibition press offices in Olympia and GMEX respectively.
A graduate of the Queen's University of Belfast, Colm has an MSc in Biochemistry, and is a published research scientist both there and at the University of London in the field of molecular biology.
